What is cacao?
Cacao is essentially chocolate in its raw, original, pure form. It is extracted from the seeds of ‘beans’ grown on the pods of the Theobroma Cacao fruit trees, which grow in parts of South America, Central America and West Africa.
Cacao is completely natural and unprocessed, whereas cocoa (from which chocolate is made) is produced by roasting the beans, which destroys much of the vitamins and minerals abundant in cacao.
